At this time of high gas prices I wonder
way Chrysler is not rethinking the Turbine. I remember reading something in
one of my car magazines when I wan in Jr. High school that the turbine would run on almost anything. I wonder if that is true? A gret idea that should have been used. Cheap gas at the time is what done in the turbine. At least that is my feeling.

At the time that the turbine cars were being beta tested, a teacher from the junior high school that I attended was chosen as a participant of the testing and given one of these tubine cars to test drive...don't remember her name. I remember that all of us boys would gather around it and peer thru the windows at the really "spacey" look that it had going. The styling was way ahead of it years. Thanks.
Editor:I would guess that teacher was Martha Linton - she was user #135 in Jacksonville Florida.

I was lucky enough to have had a ride in one of the Ghia turbine cars that was presented to friends of my mother here in Sacramento for 3 months. Very exciting.

Mr. Olsen, I have an original promotional model of the Turbine car put out by the Chrysler Corp. I would maybe like to give it to someone that has one of these cars and shares it, like the guy in St. Louis. Could you contact me and let me know who you think deserves this model?

I wish I had the resources to build a state of art turbine today, knowing that they will burn any fuel.

I have always wished I could have been one of the lucky test drivers. I was love at first sight when I saw one in person in 1963. Lucky you!

Watched "101 cars you must drive" and saw them drive a 63 Turbine kept at the Chrysler museum. The car had many of the styling themes of the 66 Charger. I.E Electroluminescent dash lighting, full length console and four bucket seats. What a great try!!

My mother worked for Southern Bell in Miami, FL (where I was born & raised). A She invited my dad, brother, and me to pick her up at work one day for a special treat. A co-worker in her facility (Herb Koch, user #14) took her for a ride while we watched. I'll never forget that day.

My understanding is that this car would run on anything flammable, Boy , we could use it now!!!
I remember reading about this car in Popular Mechanics, back in the 60s, thats why i looked it up, as i remember reading, it was a alternative fuel car even back then

My name is Rich Truesdell and like everyone here I am a Turbine Car enthusiast.
Last summer I had the opportunity to fulfill a 43-year-long dream to drive the Turbine Car on a visit to the Chrysler HQ in Auburn Hills (I'm an automotive journalist).
I have just posted three dozen photos of the car on my web site, Automotive Traveler. You can view the photos on Automotive Traveler.
http://automotivetraveler.com/
register (it's easy) then navigate to Image Gallery. This is an expanded selection of three dozen high resolution images, similar to the ones Mark posted here on the site last year immediately after I drove the car at the Chrysler CTC.
While you're on the site I hope that you will look around and take a look at our award-winning online-only magazine, Automotive Traveler.
Enjoy the photos! Feel free to leave comments on the photos here.

Congratulations for your website about the Chrysler Turbine. We in our family are fan of Chrysler! My father told me about the Chrysler Turbine when I was young but your site instructed me about it much more I expected.
I also visited your family link and I appreciated the stories about family. I realy enjoyed the way you tell them. Being the last children of a party of ten (it is a typical size of the French-Canadian family before the 60's), I got a lot of ressembling stories to tell.
You did a really god job with this website.
Jerome
P.S. You seem to love SNOW, do you? I got somme photos of last winter in Quebec city. We got 5.6 meters of it down here !

One of my most prized posessions- a 1_24 model of the turbine car, provided to dealers as a promotional item- got it from Webster Chrysler Plymouth in 1966 when my dad bought a new Fury III. The salesman asked, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" just after my dad signed, and I said, "Can I have this?". I always loved that car, and had no idea there were any left at all! Thanks for the web site!

I believe it time to rethink the Turbine Car. I helped build a 5MM gallon biodiesel plant and starting a 5MM gallon ethanol plant from waste starch. Anyone out there who wants to joint venture?

Thanks for the trip down memory lane. I was lucky enough to see one back in the sixty's sitting in the driveway of the local Chrysler Representative in Vancouver Washington. I was also one of the many thousands that sent in a request to be part of the test drive program. I always wondered what they could do with it now with current technology.

Hello, I'm 56 and in 1963 or 64 I saw one of the turbine cars in Marlington Wv as we were there on Vacation. It needless to say was the highlight of my Summer. Never got to hear the Turbine run though.
Thanks Mark Smith
