How Michael Does it.

I will let Michael tell you how he does these now.

Look below at the four photos, they help illustrate the process of creating one of these "paintings".

The actual building for the diorama is constructed of Gatorboard (tm). A light weight paper product coated in resin to give it strength. It can be cut with an X-acto knife and takes paint very well. The floor is achieved by using five different spray paints, lightly sprayed to give a spatter effect. I then scored in the grout lines with a blade. The paneling is wood veneer. And the furniture is cobbled together from the "parts" box of left over models I've been carrying around for 30 some years. The building took about three days to complete.

The cars actually took about a week to paint and detail.

When a friend gave me Photoshop(tm) software for my computer, as a gift, it all came together. The best part was that I could change the color of the car. How cool is that? So I'm still hooked on the Turbine. I've found three more un-built model kits that are waiting to be done up right.

There was a suggestion on the message board to show the Turbine in a " backyard mechanic" setting, a garage tune up diorama and also some racing scenes. I'll see what I can do in the future.

If you like these, post a comment in my guest book for Michael.
